Hotels in Las Vegas
Where to sleep depends on why you came. The north Strip around Fontainebleau sits beside the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, the right base for CES (6 to 9 January 2027) or any trade show there. Downtown, Circa admits nobody under 21 anywhere on the property, pool included, and stands at the west end of the Fremont Street Experience canopy. Boulder Station, and the Hyatt Place next to Silverton Casino, suit drivers: easy parking, but nothing within walking distance. The Las Vegas Monorail runs along the east side of the Strip with seven stations between MGM Grand and SAHARA, one of them at the Convention Center; the west-side resorts such as Bellagio and the Cosmopolitan have no station, and the line does not reach Downtown. Average highs of about 40 °C in July and August, and still about 35 °C in September, make the afternoon walk between resorts hard work, so spring and autumn are the comfortable months. The classic trap is booking a convention week without checking the calendar, when rooms across the city fill.
In Las Vegas I would choose the hotel by the route, not by the casino. Of the 30 Las Vegas hotels on this site, only three have a casino under their own roof: Fontainebleau at the north end of the Strip, Circa in Downtown and Boulder Station on Boulder Highway. The rest are non-gaming hotels and suites, from Jockey Club Suites beside the Cosmopolitan to Hampton Inn, Home2 Suites and Residence Inn properties toward Henderson, Summerlin and the airport. Together they average 8.79 out of 10 across 22,714 guest reviews. That split matters for families, for anyone who wants a lobby without slot noise, and for how much of the trip you spend in a car rather than on foot.

What to expect
- Fontainebleau Las Vegas: 67 storeys at the north end of the Strip, opened in December 2023 beside the Convention Center's West Hall.
- Circa Resort & Casino: Downtown's adults-only resort, 21 and over everywhere, with the Stadium Swim pool complex facing a giant screen.
- Las Vegas Monorail: seven stations on the east side of the Strip, from MGM Grand to SAHARA, including Boingo Station at the Convention Center.
- Non-gaming choice: 27 of the 30 hotels listed here have no casino of their own; The Celine Riviera Suite is in Palms Place, a gaming-free tower linked to the Palms Casino Resort by an enclosed walkway.
Local tips
- ✓Nevada law (NRS 463.350) bars anyone under 21 from gambling or loitering where gaming takes place, so families with teenagers are better off in one of the non-gaming hotels.
- ✓Circa refuses guests under 21 anywhere on the property, restaurants and pool included, so a group travelling with a 20-year-old needs another Downtown address.
- ✓The monorail skips the west side of the Strip: from Bellagio or the Cosmopolitan the nearest stations are Horseshoe/Paris and Flamingo/Caesars Palace, across Las Vegas Boulevard.
- ✓Look at the Las Vegas Convention Center calendar before choosing dates: CES runs from 6 to 9 January 2027 and fills hotels across the city that week.
- ✓For drives to Red Rock Canyon, the Summerlin hotels (Hampton Inn Summerlin, Hampton Inn & Suites Red Rock/Summerlin, Element Summerlin) put you on the west side of the valley.
FAQ
What is the minimum age to enter a Las Vegas casino?
You must be 21 to gamble in Nevada, and state law (NRS 463.350) also bars anyone under 21 from loitering in gaming areas. Carry photo ID, because it is checked at tables and at age-restricted pools and clubs. Circa goes further and refuses anyone under 21 on the whole property, rooms included.
Which Las Vegas hotels on this site have a casino in the building?
Three: Fontainebleau Las Vegas on the north Strip, Circa Resort & Casino in Downtown and Boulder Station on Boulder Highway. Hyatt Place at Silverton Village stands next to Silverton Casino but is a separate building, and The Celine Riviera Suite is in Palms Place, a gaming-free tower linked to the Palms Casino Resort by an enclosed walkway. The other hotels listed are non-gaming.
Is it better to stay on the Strip or in Downtown Las Vegas?
For conventions, big resort pools and the north Strip, stay near Fontainebleau; for a compact evening on foot under the Fremont Street canopy, Downtown and Circa, adults only. The monorail stops at SAHARA and does not reach Downtown, so moving between the two means a taxi, a rideshare or a bus.
When is the best time to visit Las Vegas for the pools?
Late spring and early autumn: pools are open and the heat is bearable. Average highs reach about 40 °C in July and August and about 35 °C in September, which makes walking between resorts tiring in the afternoon. Pools also have a season: Fontainebleau opened its six-acre Oasis Pool district for 2026 on 6 March, and each winter since 2024-25 the Oasis deck becomes an ice rink.
Which non-gaming hotels are closest to the Strip?
Jockey Club Suites stands beside the Cosmopolitan. The Carriage House, Marriott's Grand Chateau and Alexis Park are on Harmon Avenue, east of the Strip, and The Platinum is on Flamingo Road; Alexis Park opened in 1984 as a non-gaming alternative to the casino resorts. Bluegreen Vacations Club 36 is on Tropicana Avenue, east of the Strip. West of Interstate 15, The Celine Riviera Suite is in Palms Place.
Where should I stay for the Convention Center, the airport or Henderson?
For the Convention Center, Renaissance Las Vegas on Paradise Road is about a seven-minute walk away. For early flights, Residence Inn, Element and SpringHill Suites each have a Las Vegas Airport hotel. Staybridge Suites Stadium District suits Allegiant Stadium events, and the north of the valley has TownePlace Suites North I-15 and Homewood Suites North Las Vegas Speedway. In Henderson, choose Aloft, My Place or Residence Inn South/Henderson; Best Western Plus Las Vegas West is on the west side.
How do I get from Harry Reid International Airport to my hotel?
Two RTC bus routes stop at Terminal 1, on Level Zero: Route 108 (Paradise) and the Red Line, formerly Route 109 on Maryland Parkway; plan the connection to your hotel on the RTC trip planner. At Terminal 1 taxis queue outside baggage claim doors 1 to 4, and at Terminal 3 outside baggage claim near door 52, with airport staff managing the lines. Hotels in Henderson, Summerlin and the north of the valley are easier by rideshare or rental car.
Do Las Vegas hotels charge a resort fee?
Many Las Vegas resorts add a mandatory daily resort fee, and some non-gaming hotels do too. Since 12 May 2025 the US Federal Trade Commission's rule on unfair or deceptive fees requires hotels and booking sites to include mandatory fees such as resort fees in the first total they display. Compare that total, not the headline room figure.
